  • From Taipei: Take the HSR to Taichung (about 1 hr), then transfer to Nantou Bus 6889A or the OK BUS shuttle up to Cingjing (about 2.5–3 hrs). Driving via Freeway 3 and Freeway 6 takes about 3–3.5 hrs in total.
  • From Taichung: Driving takes about 1.5–2 hrs (Freeway 6 to Highway 14A). Nantou Bus 6889A from Taichung Station takes about 2.5–3 hrs, or book the OK BUS shuttle (from NT$500/person at Taichung HSR Station).

Depart from Taichung, Kaohsiung, or Nantou City and head to the Shuishe Visitor Center at Sun Moon Lake. Take a boat tour or rent a bicycle along the lakeside cycling path to soak in the tranquility.

Afternoon
Check in at SheepVillage

Day 2 Cingjing Farm → Head Home

Morning Walk Around the Homestay
Step outside for a walk while the morning mist still lingers and the air on the meadows is at its freshest. The No. 6 Pastoral Trail starts right at the door — one loop takes about 20 minutes.

Cingjing Farm Green Grassland
Just a 12-minute walk away. Catch the sheep shearing show (morning session around 10:30) and interact with the sheep. Arrive early for the best photos before the crowds.
Afternoon
Head Home
Have lunch near Cingjing, then drive down at a relaxed pace. Consider stopping in Puli on the way to pick up local grapes or Shaoxing wine as souvenirs.

About 50 minutes by car from SheepVillage to the Mt. Hehuan Main Peak trailhead. Leave before 8 AM — the earlier you arrive, the fewer clouds and the better the views.

Shimen Mountain Trail
An easy 1-hour hike to the summit with 360-degree panoramic views of the Central Mountain Range. Winter visits may reward you with snow scenery; summer brings alpine azaleas in bloom.
Midday
Wuling — Taiwan's Highest Highway Point
Drive 10 more minutes to Wuling Pass (3,275m) for a photo at Taiwan's highest paved road. Lunch at Songsyue Lodge, or bring your own food for a mountaintop picnic.

  • Mt. Hehuan roads may ice over in winter — bring snow chains or check road conditions (Taiwan Highway Bureau real-time updates)
  • Cingjing has significant day-night temperature swings: summer days around 20 degrees C, nights can drop to 12 degrees C — a warm jacket is essential
  • Grocery shopping on the mountain is limited — bring all meal ingredients (including breakfast) in advance. The shared kitchen is open 08:00-21:00, first-come-first-served; register at the front desk after check-in.
