Mountain View Country Homestay · Nantou, Taiwan
One of the closest B&Bs to Cingjing Farm — just a walk away.
Not too much, not too little.
A bit of mountain, a bit of breeze, a bit of time for yourself.
Taiwan's own Giethoorn, up in the mountains.
Years ago, the owner made a promise to his wife: someday, he would take her to Giethoorn (荷蘭羊角村), the quiet Dutch village where canals run where roads should be.
In the end, it was the sheep who led them here first. A flock wandered down an unmarked meadow off Provincial Highway 14A. Sunlight settled on the ridgeline. They came back a year later and the meadow was still there. So they stayed, built a house, and searched for a name. Every option felt like something was missing.
Until he turned to her and said: This is SheepVillage. You can come here every day.
Running a B&B in the mountains isn't about grand philosophies.
We simply discovered that some things make you want to take good care of this place. The smiles on guests' faces when they leave are often the reason. It's not about ratings or reviews. It's that moment when you realize — the air, the room, and the time here accompanied them on part of their journey.
So at SheepVillage, we focus on doing a few things well.
We don't decorate for the sake of it, nor force every corner to be perfect. Some spots simply have the right light, the right breeze. Every corner says: you can just stay still. Not: come take a photo.
The scent of wood. The smell of grass. Mountain air. And a hint of freshly brewed coffee. We don't have an aroma diffuser. We just open the window.
There's no rigid check-in procedure here. When you come, we'll remember you. Next time you visit, you won't need to introduce yourself again.
Time moves a little slower in the mountains. It's not that nothing happens — it's just that many things don't need to happen in a rush.
Stayed here years ago and came back again — the familiar sense of quiet is still here. I love this peaceful corner. Highly recommend to anyone who values stillness. Don't forget to step onto the balcony at night and look up at the stars. Absolutely breathtaking.
The owner was incredibly warm and helpful — even when fully booked, he went out of his way to find us quality accommodation nearby. That kind of hospitality is rare.
Drove 3.5 hours after work for Qixi stargazing — and we could see the Milky Way right from the B&B (they cooperate with the international dark sky program, lights off after 10pm). The owners were friendly and full of local tips. The surroundings are lovely and there's a convenience store nearby.
I love the secluded location — walk out of your room and you're facing the sunrise, the night sky, or a full mountain forest. Brought the kids here and they were thrilled to see sheep up close just a short walk away. The hosts are genuinely lovely.
Pretty close to the main parking area, with a short walk that feels like an adventure. The view from the car park is already gorgeous — then the balcony view from the room blew us away. Very clean, no musty smell at all. Shoes-off policy keeps the whole place spotless. Excellent value. Coming back.
Clean, quiet, and that big picture window stopped us in our tracks — we absolutely loved it here and didn't want to leave. The host was warm and enthusiastic. So glad we chose this place.
SheepVillage was a genuinely restorative trip. The scenery changes completely between day and night — you have to experience it in person. The owners treat every guest like a friend, always checking in, suggesting restaurants, making sure everyone is comfortable. Pet-friendly too, but confirm your specific room in advance.
